Spiced Apple Cider & Whiskey

Warm up this Rosh Hashanah with a hot, Spiced Apple Cider with Whiskey. This beverage is delicious with or without alcohol, making it the perfect family-friendly cocktail or mocktail to celebrate the New Year! Try it over ice for a surprisingly delicious twist!
Ingredients
5 cups apple cider
1 cinnamon stick
1 slice ginger, fresh
Pinch cloves
Pinch nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup whiskey (optional)
Juice of 1 lemon
1 apple, thinly sliced
4 cinnamon sticks, to serve
Preparation
Combine apple cider cinnamon stick, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg in a pot over medium heat. Bring to a boil and let simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Remove from heat and add vanilla, whiskey (if using), and lemon juice.
Divide between 4 mugs.
Serve with apple slices and cinnamon sticks.
