Gold Zodiac Coins

 

The Chinese calendar is based on a lunar system with a 12 year cycle. Each of these 12 years corresponds to a zodiac animal. Some legends say that placing a gold coin under your pillow on Lunar New Year’s Eve scares away monsters and demons known as Nian 年, or Sui 祟. Shape your favorite zodiac coins, and place them under your pillow.

Assembly Instructions

Follow these steps to make your DAYS Gold Zodiac Coins!

 

Get Organized: The first step is to gather all of the project pieces.

  • Silicone Coin Mold

  • 12 Gold Clay Circles

You will also need an oven.

1 Press a clay coin into each cavity of the mold. Press firmly around the edges of the clay to spread out evenly filling the entire cavity.

2 Bake for 10-15 minutes at 275°F. Let fully cool before attempting to remove coins from mold.

3 Remove each coin from the mold.

4 Treasure, play, or place under your your pillow to ward off monsters and demons.
