Ladoos for diwali
Ladoos are delicious, round-shaped sweets that are made with flour, sugar, and purified butter (ghee)! There are a few different versions. This recipe for Besan Ladoos is perfect for Diwali. The flour is roasted with butter, shaped into balls, and garnished with nuts.
Besan Ladoos
Ingredients
Ladoo Besan Flour - a course gram/chickpea flour (you can also use regular besan flour if that’s what you have)
1 tbsp of warm milk
1 tsp of warm ghee (purified butter)
½ cup ghee
½ cup sugar
¼ tsp of powdered cardamom
Garnish: sliced almonds, charoli
Equipment
A heavy bottom pan is great for achieving a slow-roasted flavor, but a non-stick pan will do
A flat tray for cooling
Instructions
Mix 1 tbsp of warm milk with 1 tsp of warm ghee.
Mix in besan flour and let the mixture rest for about 5 mins.
Run the flour mixture through a sieve to add texture.
Add ½ cup ghee to a heavy bottom pan. Add flour mixture and roast on a low flame to release the flavors. Stir continuously until golden, and the smell is crazy delicious.
• Some like to control the amount of ghee, and add more as needed to keep a smooth (but not runny) consistencyMix in ½ cup sugar and ¼ tsp of powdered cardamon.
Transfer and flatten on a baking sheet to cool down for about 15 minutes.
Shape into a 1.5” ball with your hands, and garnish with charoli and sliced almonds. Be creative!
Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
Bring to room temperature before serving.

You can also let the mixture cool down completely and cut into ‘burfi’ squares.
