Diwali Dress Up
Here are five different types or Indian dresses, typically worn by women (based on this article)
Kurti or Kurta
Kurti is a long knee-high dress that can be worn with or without pants and can be paired with a dupatta (scarf). Salwar pants are wide at the hips, and churidar pants are like leggings.
Salwar Kameez
Salwar Kameez is a very cool dress suit: a tunic/dress (kameez) is worn over a pair of pants (salwar).
In south India, the same style is named the Punjabi suit or shalwar.
Lehenga Choli or Ghagra Choli
Lehenga Choli is composed of a little fitted top paired with a high-waisted embroidered skirt, topped with a duappata (scarf) draped over the shoulder and around the waist. It is typical to North India.
Sari or Saree
Saree is a dress that is simply draped over the body, the most common dress in India. It can be draped in several ways, some of which include over the shoulder and around the waist, or as a halter top with an open back.
Pavadai Sattai
Pavadai Sattai is a dress worn by young girls in South India.
