Lag B'omer is a Jewish holiday that celebrates spring. We spend time outdoors, gather around bonfires, and play with a bow and arrow.
LAG BA’OMER TRADITIONS
Play with Bow and Arrow
We play with a bow and arrow, a tribute to the rebels’ victory. Arched like a rainbow, the bow also hints at Rabbi Bar Yochai’s brilliance and virtue.
Light up the night
Gathering around the fire, we celebrate the sparks of wisdom revealed by Bar Yochai in the Zohar. The flickering lights of the fire are like secret messages from ancient Judean rebels.
Get a haircut or get married
Traditionally, getting your hair cut or getting married is prohibited during the seven weeks between Passover and Shavu’ot. On Lag Ba’Omer, however, these restrictions are lifted!
SAY HAPPY LAG BA’OMER
Remember to greet neighbors, and friends and try to get invited to a bonfire party!
