Krishna Janmashtami

Janmashtami is a Hindu festival that celebrates the birth (janma) of the Hindu god Krishna and reenacts his mischievous acts as a kid. It is celebrated all over India and around the world.

KRISHNA JANMASHTAMI TRADITIONS

Retell the story of Krishna

Krishna's special powers helped him escape prison as a baby, live a mischievous life, and fulfill the prophecy to kill his evil uncle king Kans.

Build human pyramids (Dahi Handi)

Some reenact Krishna's childhood endeavors to steal butter and curd from earthen pots by forming tall human pyramids with his buddies

Recreate the birth scene of Krishna

We recreate the scene of the birth of Krishna similar to the way Christians recreate the story of the birth of Jesus

SAY HAPPY JANMASHTAMI

Greet anyone who celebrates with Happy Janmashtami (Happy jan·maash·tuh·say·mee) ” or Janmashtami Mubarak. You can also say “May Lord Krishna shower all his blessings on you.”
