GURU PURNIMA TRADITIONS
Be grateful to your teachers
We remember and thank our spiritual and academic teachers who are in our lives, and who passed.
Honor your teachers with gifts
We honor our teachers with prasad (a vegetarian offering) or other meaningful gifts and heartfelt notes. Many spend the day in prayer.
Fast and feast
Many spend the day fasting or in a restricted diet. The fast is broken with a feast of sweet delicacies, including Khichdi (rice and lentils dish), Poori (deep fried bread), Laddoo, and more.
